We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition on the cultural heritage of medieval Armenia, which is quite unique in the Czech environment. The panel exhibition will be opened by art historian Ivan Foletti with his lecture on the extraordinary charm and intricate history of the 7th-century cathedral of Mren. On display will be the surviving architectural, painting and sculptural works of the finest masters of medieval Armenia. Breathtaking buildings such as Mren, Horromos and Khtskonkh would be found in the east of modern-day Turkey. This territory used to belong to historical Armenia, so it is a cultural heritage affected by tragic historical events forcing a fight for perseverance almost on a daily basis. Come and see photographs of the magnificent buildings of medieval Armenia accompanied by compelling stories of their dramatic fates.

The panel exhibition was created within the framework of the project Armenian Art and Culture: an Endangered Heritage, conducted at the Centre for Early Medieval Studies, Seminar of Art History of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Czech Republic and with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.
